Daily Lemon : Rest

Rest. It’s a powerful thing, and it can mean so many things that we actually take for granted.

It could mean sleep, but not like the sleep we are used to. Where we just lay in bed and close our eyes to pass the time. I’m talking about real sleep, the kind that makes you feel like you’re floating until you wake up and actually feel good about the day ahead.

It could mean a break. A break from reality, a vacation from the day to day life that wears and tears on us all. So when we come back we are more relaxed and are able to accomplish things that we never thought of before.

It could mean taking a breath. I think in these busy and overly stressful lives we live we forget to take in a deep breath. I think we forget to take a second and really enjoy our surroundings, breath in the fresh air and enjoy the moment.

Sometimes life will hit you so hard that you need all 3 of these different types or rest at once.  Sometimes you’ll be able to take that rest and sometimes you’ll have to survive on a few minutes that you can spare.

Life hit me really hard for the last few years, I can’t afford to leave my worries behind at the moment. So I’ll just sit on my porch, JackJack on my lap, breathing in the land I live, and sipping on a Dr. Pepper until I feel rested.

Take these life lemons and make some sweet lemonade.

Daily Lemon : Everyday is the Dawn of a New Error

I was reading an email last night when I saw the saying,”Everyday is the dawn of a new error...” I laughed because it’s so true, but what it didn’t say is that errors create era’s.  Errors are understated. We are taught that they are bad. Sometimes we even get called names that weren’t given to us for these errors we make.  But... You have to make mistakes in order to learn from them.  It’s a fact of life.  You have to take risks in order to get results. It’s a fact of life. Don’t live life on the safe side.  Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.  Live. Learn. Make mistakes. Take risks. Turn lemons into lemonade.

Daily Lemon : Bigger Picture

There’s a few moments in everyone’s life where you start to see the pieces of the puzzle that is your life, come together. Whether you believe in a God or the Universe, things always end up making some sort of sense.  You’ll have those absolutely gut wrenching moments of, “Why me?!” Then you’ll have those “Oh, that’s why” moments that help you see the bigger picture.  Sometimes you’ll have a series of “Why me?!” moments, just for one small “Oh, that’s why.” Whether it was to meet someone new or learn something new. Everything happens for a reason.  So if you are like me and are currently going through a “Why me?!” moment, I urge you to stay strong because one day it will all become clear. With this tart lemon and some sugar I’ll make some lemonade.

Daily Lemon : Bittersweet

Lemons can be bittersweet and so can life lessons. Over the past 3 years I’ve gone through reliving my worst nightmares over and over again. Having to distance myself from my friends and family because I legally couldn’t talk about it. Having to sit in front of a judge and a jury, telling them everything I remember.  It was the worst experience I’ve ever had, to feel so vulnerable and powerless.  Yesterday it all ended so I can finally share with you my side of the story. From an outside perspective, this whole thing could be considered just family drama that got out of hand. Which is right. When I was 8 years old I started getting molested by my sister’s husband. It didn’t stop until I was almost 12 years old when I “became a women”. Honestly I was so confused, I thought that was what love was and that I was in love with him. And then when it stopped I thought I had done something wrong. I never liked it, it always made me feel gross, dirty and wrong. All I can say was I was ...
